WhatsApp: As we step into 2025, WhatsApp is rolling out a series of exciting new features that promise to enhance the user experience. Recently, WhatsApp has introduced features that have been highly anticipated by users, and the latest addition is no exception. According to reports, WhatsApp is preparing to launch a bill payment system in India, a feature that has been requested by many.
Initially, this feature will be tested on WhatsApp version 2.25.3.15 for Android Beta. Currently, WhatsApp offers the UPI payment system, which allows users to transfer money. This new bill payment system is an extension of WhatsApp’s existing payment capabilities. With this feature, users will be able to conveniently pay a variety of bills directly through the app.
The bill payment feature will include options for paying electricity bills, mobile prepaid recharges, LPG gas payments, landline postpaid bills, rent payments, and water bills. This means users will no longer need to visit different payment platforms or websites to handle these essential transactions. Instead, they can now manage everything directly from within WhatsApp. However, it is still unclear when the trial period will end or when the feature will be made available to the broader public.

In addition to this, WhatsApp has also announced a new feature that addresses a long-standing issue. Users will soon be able to view ‘View Once’ media, such as photos and videos, on linked devices. This new functionality is part of the latest beta update for WhatsApp version 2.25.3.7 on Android. Previously, WhatsApp restricted the ability to view media sent with the ‘View Once’ option to the device on which the media was originally viewed. If you received a ‘View Once’ image or video, you had to view it on your phone, as there was no option to view it on any linked devices. This limitation has now been removed, allowing greater flexibility for users to access their media across all devices linked to their WhatsApp accounts.
These updates from WhatsApp are part of the platform’s ongoing efforts to provide users with more useful and seamless features. The bill payment system is likely to be a game-changer for many users, simplifying everyday tasks by allowing them to handle a variety of essential payments without having to leave the app. The ability to view ‘View Once’ media on linked devices is another step toward improving WhatsApp’s multi-device functionality, giving users more freedom and convenience when using the app across different devices.
While it remains to be seen exactly when these features will be widely available, the rollout of such updates signals WhatsApp’s commitment to remaining a dominant player in the messaging and payment space, catering to the evolving needs of its users.
